Ngl, I got kinda excited by the submission title until the last two characters. Crediting LG as a development partner automatically sours the product, even before seeing details. Who has the time and money to beta test shit tier LG products while simultaneously fending off identity thieves or trying to RMA a broken device, as is tradition for USA bound LG engineered products?
Yeah, we use this kind of stuff and so do most of our friends. Makes it really convenient when you go on vacations, want to let friends into the house, want to check on it, want temps to automatically adjust back to normal when your plane touches down in town, etc.
it is very nice not to need to carry metal keys around. but keypad "dumb" locks can do that. i def dont want a lock that requires an internet connection.
or you could just accept that a door lock itself is mostly a placebo that at best would slow down or deter only the laziest of intruder and leave your doors unlocked.

You think Apple would let LG write software for Apple branded products?
The Motorola ROKR was a thing.

LG UltraFine was pretty close.
The same LG whose devices have that’s been snooping on its customers?
As far as I can tell, the only reason Apple's walled garden protects your privacy is because it's way more valuable that way.
...your information though, not the product. They'll sell you out if they get the right MBA.
Is this an American thing? I never met anyone using any of these things

Waste of time and money.
Homekit is dodgy, for some strange reason stuff randomly disconnects from the network here and there, and require a hard reset every so often.
No idea why but homekit sometimes fails to see some devices, but the manuf app is able to work with them.
Siri is also pretty dumb, for example "Turn off Lights" isnt smart enough to turn off any lights that are on. One must say "Turn of ALL lights".
Time? Yes. Money? It adds up, but on grand scheme of home ownership - it's nothing. 2-3 visits to home improvement store will cost you more.
Smart doorbells and thermostats are popular.
Smart door locks are mostly an AirBnB / rental cabin thing.

Half of my friends in Poland and elsewhere in UK and EU do.
And the dilution of the brand begins ...
you mean continues...
What have they really created since steve jobs?
The Apple Watch? M series processors are a massive achievement.
Airpods
Just so long as you don't give LG access to the internet you should be safe
But what if your neighbor gives LG access to his internet?
An LG device in your home could potentially hop through it for snooping and fw updates.
If you thinking to get into smart home - don't go with homekit or any other proprietary platform. Start open source and stick with it.
Sure on some devices its impossible to avoid, but for generic stuff like cameras and switches, etc - plenty of options are out there.
