Why not? Windows NT was a microkernel when that was cool.
If you must use Word, Excel and PowerPoint, you're at the mercy of what trends Microsoft perceives.
How about if you use expensive multi-track audio interfaces that only have Windows drivers?
Getting off-topic here, but which one is that? Mac has been generally very friendly with audio production systems.
