Though I agree social media SSO was a poor choice for id.me, it's reckless that they canceled the feature suddenly without notifying & supporting users through the migration.
I can imagine someone scrambling to deal with an urgent IRS issue now without a critical credential that's been in use for years.
If you've worked on any sizable app, you'll know that every flow has percentage of failures that end up with customer support.
